Two day course, really lovely, supportive, hardworking group and wonderful tuition from Claire. I used one brush and many rags, pipette, palette knife and other bits and pieces.

Oils and watercolours most in the catalogue now and framed . I revisited the Irises and ‘Blown Tulip’ techniques as I have run a couple of very small workshops recently. Click on images for full view.

Medway Open Studios in July…this is fun. Follow this link…. https://medwayopenstudios.org/apply/?fbclid=IwAR0IGZIv4HSl-Qx1sQYeaFbrAsSq9AydQLkcy1n0sgX2clrDm_0qEQ437rI

Larger painting still adding some touches to it but I want to keep it more abstracted than the smaller study. I reckon the small study is finished. Then there’s a couple of speedy watercolour sketches, direct painting no drawing as it was a freezing day out with The Maidstone Art Society.

We are nearly through the four hundred days that January seems to have. I made a short video of painting Christmas Robins as a Christmas card as we, like many people, decided not to post many cards this time. You can see the original studies below.

I’m looking forward to getting out to paint a bit more this year and enjoyed a freezing couple of hours at Penenden Heath with the Maidstone Art Society. I made two quick direct watercolour sketches and then was very pleased to go to the Bull to warm up with a coffee and conversation as we thawed out.

Painting in the studio this morning, some pieces in progress some needing finishing off. Oils one end of the table and watercolour the other.

Had a lovely week in this delightful space @fishslabgallery in #Whitstable. Sold quite a few paintings, even three sketchbook pages as the people who bought them liked them a lot. Thank you @FishslabGallery Team, Cathy McTurk and Kev Hopper for the support and encouragement.

Happily sold some pieces during @mwayopenstudios so am working towards my next exhibition at @fishslabgallery, #whitstable at the end of the month. Exhibition opens 23rd August until 28th.

#MedwayOpenStudios is next week so I’m finishing off stuff and getting ready to sort the browser out. I really enjoy opening up my studio and talking to people who visit. Hope it’s as busy as last year….

I have some news….I was shortlisted for the Society of All Artists Professional Artist of the Year 2023 and have now been selected for the final, don’t think it will get anywhere as the rest of the finalists are very strong and confident…exciting though. The Final judging is in August and all the Finalists will be exhibited in a gallery in London in October. I shall still have the painting during #MedwayOpenStudios so you can come and have a look ‘in real life’ and see what you think…It’s not Sky Arts but it is a very nice thing to happen especially after a struggle with paint lately.
